Note: &nbsp;A fascinating aspect of Jahangir&#39;s reign was his experimentation with coins. In addition to their high quality, weight standards, and intricate designs, coins from his period are known in a variety of denominations with interesting names. For heavyweight silver half rupees of high purity, the Sultani denomination was used. 

The Tuzuk-e-Jahangiri records the following names for fractional denominations; Gold coins of half tola as &#39;Nurani&#39;, meaning &#39;the light&#39; and quarter tola as &#39;Riwazi&#39;. The silver coins (sikkas) of 10 tolas were named &#39;Kaukab-i-bakht&#39;, meaning &#39;star of good luck&#39;, 5 tolas as &#39;Kaukab-i-sa&#39;d&#39; meaning &#39;star of auspiciousness&#39;, 1 tola as &#39;Jahangiri&#39;, and &#39;Half Jahangiri as Sultani&#39; meaning &#39;The Royal&#39;. 

As can be seen on this coin, it bears the Persian month of &#39;Amardad&#39; clearly. In light of the clear date AH1015 / RY1, it can be assumed that it was struck between 13 July - 13 August in 1606. It is a completely new type bearing the Elahi month. An important rarity of the Mughal coins was offered for the first time at auction.
